On 31st March 2019, Amanda Spielman, Ofsted’s Chief Inspector, paid tribute to the late Naz Bokhari OBE, as a “real trailblazer” who “broke new ground, becoming the first British Muslim to become the headmaster of a British secondary school,” in a speech she gave at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Muslim Teacher’s Association (MAT). Naz Bokhari OBE was President and founding member of the Muslim Teachers Association.
