This popular annual event celebrating Tooting and its diverse communities and cultures is looking to be larger and better this year and enhanced by celebrating Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Rifat Batool, headteacher of Gatton School said: ‘Our children and school community are very excited about the BATCA event which coincides with celebrating Her Majesty’s 60 years of dedicated community service. As a part of the Mayor of London Street Party initiative most of our staff and parent community are volunteering to help in this community project. This is a great way for all of us to give 60 minutes of our time for this community project as a thank you and recognition of Her Majesty’s 60 years of dedicated service to this country.’
Tooting MP Sadiq Khan said: “The Balham and Tooting Community Association Fun Day is one of the highlights of the year – bringing together the whole community and doing a fantastic job of raising money for important local causes.
“It’s wonderful that this year it will coincide with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the dozens of street parties that are being put on throughout the area.
“It is wonderful to see Tooting’s diverse community uniting to celebrate the Queen’s dedication and duty over the last 60 years.
