Naz Legacy Foundation is excited to confirm the British Asian Trust as their charity partner for this year’s Iftar Series in Ramadan. The Foundation is supporting the charity’s ‘If I Can She Can’ Appeal to support people in the poorest parts of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, whose lives – particularly women and girls – have been devastated by COVID-19.
Your donations made to the British Asian Trust until 31 May 2021, including Zakat and Sadaqah, will be doubled by the UK government to support all of the Trust’s programmes to reduce poverty and disadvantage for communities across South Asia. Match funding will be used to fund the British Asian Trust’s innovative Women’s Economic Empowerment programme in Pakistan, which will equip women with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to find a job or start their own business in a post-COVID world.
Dr Shaw, Naz Legacy Chair of Trustees, “We’re delighted that Naz Legacy Foundation’s Charity partner for this year’s Ramadan Virtual Series is the British Asian Trust . The Foundation is delighted to support their ‘If I can, She Can’ UK Aid Match appeal . We might be apart this Ramadan, but excited that like last year’s ground breaking series, this year we will bring communities together virtually and celebrate what we have in common and foster greater understanding and relationships.”
Richard Hawkes, Chief Executive, British Asian Trust says: “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Naz Legacy Foundation for our second UK Aid Match appeal. We look forward to being a part of their exciting programme of Iftars to celebrate Ramadan, which promises to be a wonderful opportunity to connect with our communities, whilst also raising funds for families in South Asia as they try and recover from the severe impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on them.”
