Naz Legacy Foundation

About us

Founded in 2012, the Naz Legacy Foundation is a UK-based charity which was established to continue the legacy of the late Naz Bokhari OBE. Our mission is to help young people from minority communities and disadvantaged backgrounds by supporting their education whilst encouraging positive integration into British society, through:
  • advancing their education in the field of UK democracy and civil society;
  • providing advice and assistance, programmes, activities and other support to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities;
  • promoting interfaith relations via interfaith activities.
The Naz Legacy Foundation promotes community cohesion and brings together young people, community, political and faith leaders to strengthen unity between diverse groups. Whether through our workshops with young people on tackling extremism and hateful ideologies, or through our annual Interfaith Iftars, we believe it is our duty to promote strong and welcoming communities just as Naz did.

The Naz Legacy Foundation also promotes and celebrates those who have made profound contributions to education and services to communities, for example through our annual Honorary Education Award and through nominations to the honours lists. As of December 2020, the Naz Legacy Foundation has taken over the secretariat of the Muslim Teachers Association (MTA). As the secretariat, the Foundation will take over all future day to day running of the MTA.
